About
Founded in Switzerland in 1378, we are a small group of women vowed to Jesus Christ in poverty, chastity and obedience, living in community and serving in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph for over 125 years. As Franciscan Sisters we recognize our littleness, our sinfulness, that we are but clay in the hand of the Master. We recognize our noble calling by Jesus Christ to be His brides, though we are unworthy.
Living out this spousal relationship through a life centered in the Holy Eucharist, we have a special love and concern for our priests, the young, and the materially and spiritually poor. We serve through prayer, teaching, evangelization and material outreach under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We are witnesses to God’s provident, magnanimous love and care. In imitation of St. Francis we are continually seeking conversion to Christ and remain faithful to the Magisterial teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.
